Welcome to the Northwest Chocolate Festival

All of the workshops require the purchase of a Day Pass that provides access to all of the day-time activities from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may click here to purchase your day pass. Single class pass available on the day-of (limited).

There will be registration on the day-of the festival and all of the weekend schedule will be operated on first-come first served basis due to limited seating in the workshops. Below is a listing of workshops by category and location for Sunday, September 14th.

Sunday at Ecotrust Building (NW 9th and Irving).

Chocolate Tasting, Chocolate Pairings, Keynote Panels, and Handmade Chocolate Drink Workshops will be held in the Ecotrust building conference center, outdoor terrace deck, and ground level area. There will be great chocolate to taste at Ecotrust. Join us in our mini-beer garden and mini-wine garden.

Sunday at Whole Foods Market, Salud Kitchen (NW 13th & Couch)

Confections Class and Demonstrations! Nib Brittle Class, yum! Cupcake Baking! And more at our culinary demonstration area for professionals and home chefs ala chocolate! We are proud to be using the Whole Foods Market Professional Workshop Kitchen known as the Salud Kitchen. Join us for playing in chocolate and, of course, tasting it all along the way!

Sunday Fair Trade Chocolate Education Workshops and Tastes.

Join us for farmers stories and trade lessons from the chocolate industry as we explore the dynamics of chocolate in a social and global system. Enjoy the Fair Trade Chocolate Tasting and Special presentations from Students for Fair Trade and representatives from Fair Trade Chocolate Companies. We will be featuring special segments from Sustainable Harvest International, a non-profit working with Chocolate Farmers in origin lands.

Sunday Raw Chocolate Alchemy Class and Chocolate as Medicine Course

Join our Raw Foods Chef special guest and chocolatier as they present some of the most delightful recipes for raw chocolate! Learn how chocolate transforms the health of the body and get tips from Naturopathic Doctors on how chocolate can be used for wellness. This will be a great exploration of health and is a special feature of our Healthy Living with Chocolate.

The Mayan Chocolate Ceremony with Chocolate Educator Mark Sciscenti, Kakawa Chocolate, Santa Fe, NM. Join our Chocolate Historian, Mark Sciscenti, in the sacred drinking chocolate ceremony that honors the roots of chocolate.

SlowFood and SlowChocolate with Executive Director of the Northwest Chocolate Festival (Brian Cisneros) and key voices from the chocolate making and culinary arts community. Join us for a conversation about the food we eat and the return to simple lifestyles that enjoy heritage and culture in our dishes and our palette.

The Changing World of Chocolate. Keynote panel of experts from the field of chocolate present a lively conversation and debate on the changing nature of the chocolate industry. We will get key insights about chocolate as a whole enterprise from the farmer to the bar we eat. Join our special presenters as they host a conversation, take questions, and wrestle with some of the challenges of making chocolate.
